Our winner this year for the new Kindle Fire 7 is Becca. Congratulations Becca and may it bring you hours of enjoyment in the year to come.
Fear not, if you did not win this time, I have several Kindle Fire 7’s that I will be giving away in the New Year. Watch for the next giveaway in the Reader’s Lounge newsletter, and just maybe, your name will be announced next!
On an even more exciting note, I received an early Christmas present on December 8th, when I was advised that Come To The Oaks won the Rainbow Award for Best Gay Historical for 2017 and was also honored as one of the Top 20 Books Of The Year! These awards recognize international LGBT literature as well as raises money for the LGBT Community. This year, through the incredible effort of Rainbow Award and the many judges that spent countless hours reading hundreds of books, the contest raised over thirteen thousand dollars this year! Although this book is everything I wanted it to be, the beautiful responses I am receiving continue to surprise and inspire me. It is not an easy read due to the harshness of the situation during the time of slavery in this country, but it is a love story, a beautiful tale that deserves to be heard. Thank you for opening your hearts and allowing Ben and Tobias in.
In just a few days, Christmas will be upon us and this year will come to a close. I would be remiss if I didn’t take this time to say once again, thank you, thank you for riding with me on this journey we call publishing. It has truly been a fascinating year. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! My best to all of you for this Holiday Season.

It has never been more important than now that “difficult to read” stories about the history America would like to forget be told. We are so proud of you.

I completely agree with you there. I have had so many people tell me after they read the book, that they leaned so much. There is truth even in fiction.

Hi Miaja,
Thank you for the beautiful compliment. Reading takes an enormous amount of ones time. The fact that you entrust me with that time, is never taken for granted or lightly. Merry Christmas to you and family.
